In good conditions, the light could be seen from as far as 54 kilometres away. A coastal defence battery was built at Godley Head in 1939 in response to World War II. WebThe easiest access is from the Godley Head visitor day car park at the end of the Godley Head/Summit Road. From the car park follow the road and over a stile into the Military Compound and Godley Head Camping area. Continue past the buildings until you reach the signed junction to Taylors Mistake.
