WebMIDDLETOWN, March 27.--Rysdyk's famous stallion, Hambletonian, died at Chester last night, aged about twenty-seven years. He was the sire of the most noted and valuable trotting stock in the country. WebIt began around the year 1800 and culminated in 1849, when trotting progenitor Hambletonian was foaled on the farm of Jonas Seeley in Sugar Loaf, New York. Six months later Seeley sold the suckling foal and his dam to his hired hand, William M. Rysdyk, for $125. This was the beginning of a new era in the trotting world.
