WebOut of all of the poems we read, personally “They Feed They Lion” by Philip Levine stuck with me the most. Ironically, this was the poem I probably had the most difficulty understanding but after analyzing it and attempting to make sense of it, I became very transfixed on the style and eloquence of the work. Webit gives Levine's poetry an energy and an unkempt integrity that is unique. In Levine's search for an authentic American voice, we can see the influence of daily speech, as well as the echo of black speech.
